Invest
in Nutrition now for a better future
The
levels of malnutrition in Tanzania continue to be unacceptably high
despite intervention efforts undertaken. Severe Acute Malnutrition
(SAM), Iron Deficiency
Anaemia, Iodine Deficiency Disorders
(IDD) and Vitamin A Deficiency
(VAD) are the main nutritional disorders of
public health significance. Population groups most affected are
children below 5 years of age, pregnant and
lactating women.
Other programmatic areas of interest are nutrition
surveillance, household
food security, infant
feeding in the context of
HIV/AIDS and food
fortification.
