Household Food and Nutrition Security
Household food security is defined as
availability and accessibility of adequate food in terms of quality and quantity that
should be safe, nutritious to all household members at all
times. It should be accessible and sustainable to all members at all
times throughout the year. Food security at household level is determined by what that particular
household is
able to buy or produce, store, process and prepare. In turn these are
determined by purchasing power, agricultural productive resources available to that
particular household such as amount and quality of land, the amount and
division of labour, the availability of production assets, the level and
type of technology as well as climate and ecology among others. [More]

Nutrition Laboratory
The food and nutrition
laboratory was established to cater for those TFNC programmes that
involve a laboratory component as well as from other partners outside
the TFNC who are concerned with
nutrition-oriented work. Services rendered include laboratory analysis

Fortification as a nutritional intervention is undertaken by the
department of Food Science and Nutrition (FSN) with the aim of
